There are only five schools in Paragon, one for each island. But all these schools are big and fancy enough to accommodate the entire population of one island.
The "one island one school" concept came from the fact that Paragon has an extremely small population, and the small size of the islands.
In The Paragon Isles, students begin kindergarten at age 4 until 6.
During this age, they learn basics such as:
Students tend to begin Primary education around 7 years old until 12 years old.
The subjects are more or less the same as what is taught in kindergarten but is more in depth.
Years are classified into Years 1 to 6.
Students usually begin Secondary level around 13 years old and end around 18 years old. While most of the subjects are the same as the core subjects, (Math, Language, Science), there is more focus on more practical/hands-on lessons and Paragon’s history and ecosystem. While the 3 core subjects are also important, examinations prioritize more on passing subjects regarding Paragon. Secondary level education can be divided into two:
Also known as middle school. Years are classified into Years 7 and 8. Students range from around age 13 until 14 in lower secondary. At the end of lower secondary, there is an examination to determine which stream students will enter in upper secondary, either:
This is important as it provides students with subject choices that correspond to their interests. While the stream students end up in depend on the results of their examination, it is possible to switch streams upon request, as well as take subjects from the other stream without needing to change.
Also known as high school. At the end of the level, an examination is given to test students on their knowledge and to help them progress to university. The core subjects that are mandatory include Language, Mathematics, History and Combined Science, with Physical Education being an additional mandatory subject. Students are advised to choose at least 3 electives. There is a broad range of electives to choose from.
Years are classified into Years 9 to 11.
After graduating Secondary, students may choose to begin university studies at any age they’d like. The amount of years for a student to finish their studies depends on the courses they take.
In Marina University, there is a wide catalogue of courses students can choose from. Students rarely have difficulty finding a course that suit their interests and ambitions.
